May 2013 Schedule


Here is our schedule for May:

The Sunday Bible Study Class will meet at Ava's house on May 5th at 9:30 a.m.  We will continue our study of Max Lucado's book, "Facing Your Giants".  This month's lesson is about how to know God's Will for your life.

The Weekday Bible Study Class will meet at Ava's house on May 9th at 10:00 a.m.  We will study, "The Difference Between Catholics and Protestants", "Pope Francis", "Medical Terms", and "Going To Get A Physical".

Greetings and Telling People About Yourself


1.  “Hello.  It’s nice to meet you.”  (first time greeting)

2.  “Long time no see.” (you haven’t seen them in a while)

3.  “What have you been up to?” (What have you been doing          since the last time I saw you?)

4.  “What's new?” (Do you have any changes in your life?)

5.  (If someone comes to your house) “Thanks for coming.”

6.  “Thanks for having me.  You have a nice home.”  (When someone invites you to their home)

When you meet a new friend or you are asked to introduce yourself, here are some things you can say:

Medical Terms Part 2



1. Blood Count(血球数)—The amount of red and white blood cells that a person has—We were happy to hear that our daughter’s blood count was normal.

2.  blood donor(献血者)—a person who gives blood to a blood bank or hospital—Blood donors have to answer a lot of questions about their medical history.

3.  blood pressure—the rate at which blood flows through a person’s body—High blood pressure puts you at risk for a heart attack or stroke.

4.  brace(留め具)—a device that holds an injured body part in place—My friend has to wear a brace on her ankle when she plays tennis.

5.  breech(逆子)—the position of an unborn baby when the head is up and the feet are down—My aunt had to have a Caesarean section because her baby was breech.

6.  Caesarean section or C-section(帝王切開)—a procedure that involves removing a baby from the mother’s womb by making an incision in the lower abdomen(下腹部の切開)The baby was very large.  So, the doctor performed a C-section.

7.  bruise(打撲・あざ)—injured body tissue that is visible underneath the skin—The young man was badly bruised after his car wreck.

8.  cancer—a disease caused by the uncontrollable growth of cells—There are many types of cancer and there are also many types of cancer treatments.
